Cross Country
On Monday the 13 Haratua it was cross-country. I felt so nervous. They called the Year 5-6 group up. I was so scared but inside I knew I was going to make myself proud by completing it, even if I came last . My heart was pounding as loud as a helicopter.
Mr. Redman called 3... 2... 1 go. As I ran I remembered what Mailli told me, think of a song and don't give up. I listened to my chosen song in my head and it worked pretty good, but my heart kept pounding and pounding. I passed the a massive, powerful cheering crowd. They cheered me on, I felt so important and special. My breath was so loud. I passed the finish line and I was so puffed.
It was time for the results and I came in 12th place. I was so proud of myself. I felt empowered, he poho kereru ahau.. The first thing I said afterwards was I need a water. I went to class and got a bottle of water felt much better. I went to support my friends and then it was the end of the day. Finally time for home.
